Book Haul #4
I’m back this week with another book haul for you all. The majority of these books I’ve seen mentioned by a couple of my favourite BookTubers and thought they sounded like I might enjoy them. A couple of them, I’ve had on my Waterstones Wishlist for a while and decided to buy {one of those was also a recommendations from someone in the bookclub I co-host} and the other, is the second book in a series that I want to continue.
Let’s get into the books and maybe you’ll find something you’d like to read as well:
Can You See M.E?
This week is Invisible Disabilities Week {18th-24th October 2020} and since I live with not one but two invisible illnesses, I thought I’d take the opportunity to highlight this week. I’ll mainly be focusing on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or M.E, though some of the things I’m going to highlight are also experienced by people with many other invisible illnesses.
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig ~ Book Review
While, of course, Nora is a fictional character, just knowing that Matt Haig is very familiar with Depression and Anxiety, made Nora’s struggles feel even more real to me at times and more relatable. I knew the person behind the character knows exactly how she would be feeling in a particular moment or situation, because he’s likely felt it himself and that made it all the more powerful!
September Wrap Up
Yep it’s time to wrap up the month again. While we’re now in my favourite time of the year, September has been interesting month; it’s been a mixture of fun, exhaustion and emotional ups and downs. So lets get into the all of it!
Five Things I Love About Autumn
Last week was officially Autumn and if you’ve been reading my blog posts and following my social media for the past few years, then you’ll know that Autumn is my favourite season!
So today, I thought I’d share a few, okay five, things that I absolutely love about Autumn…
Blogging and M.E
I write articles with great difficulty at times and while on rare occasions I manage to get an article written slowly within a day, more often than not, I am working on the same piece over the course of a few days. Somedays I feel able to write at my desk for no more than an hour {sometimes less}, other days I turn my bed into my office and can pick up and put down my laptop as I feel able.
However, I have found a few things over the years that have made the whole process a little easier at times…
The Existence of Amy by Lana Grace Riva {#AD/Gifted book review}
For me, this showed the importance of being there for our friends, even if they may not want help. Not giving up on them when they’re dealing with periods of Depression or trying to cope with other Mental or Physical Health Conditions is so important and truly shows the person that they care during a time when they feel invisible and very lonely. Not giving up on someone could also save their life.
August Wrap Up
I’m so happy that September is finally here and the cooler months are on their way and Autumn! I’m so excited for Autumn! If you’ve been reading my old wittering ons for some time, then you’ll know that Autumn is my favourite time of the year. But let’s got on with this Month’s Wrap Up before I start gushing about my love of Autumn…
Tropic Skincare Review
A week or so ago I decided to do something a little risky for someone with highly sensitive skin and an Autoimmune Disease which causes my Immune System to think everything is trying to kill me…
I decided to try a few new Skin Care Products from Tropic Skin Care, a brand I’ve never tried before. Here’s why I made that decision…
University and Chronic Illness ~ Guest Post by Pippa Stacey
Above all else, I want to have an impact. I want to help other people get their foot in the door. I want to make sure that other chronically ill individuals also have a fair shot at chasing their dreams. It’s about time the world realises just how much we have to offer.
Book Haul #3
I recently purchased a few more books from Waterstones and I thought I’d share them with you in case you’re looking for something new to read or fancy adding more books to ever growing “To Be Read”list!
Most of these have been on my Wishlist for a little while and though one of them is “out of my comfort zone, want to broaden my reading horizons”.
July Wrap Up
It’s that time again and I know I probably I say this each month, but it does feel like only last week when I was putting together my June one. I’m not complaining about how quick the Summer months are passing by as the sooner we get to Autumn, the better! I hope July was a lovely month for you all, despite everything going on in the world right now.
Slay by Brittney Morris ~ Book Review
I finished this book late last night but each night this week as I’ve been reading it, it’s really given me a lot to think about and I think it’s one of those books that will stay with me for a long time because of how much of an impact it’s had on me and a huge aspect of my life.
I’ve been playing video games since I was about 5 years old and never given how the characters look much thought. That is a White privilege because more often than not, the characters are usually White.
My New Home
While I’m excited for this big change, it does feel like the end of an era. I started using Blogger, a couple of years or so after Google bought it from it’s originally creators in 2003 and have run numerous blogs on the site and I’ve enjoyed the experience so much. But in the past year, as my articles are now being shared more, especially through the M.E Association, I felt it was time to start looking into having a proper website for my blog and writing.
