Hello friends,

Sunday the 16th of May was my friend Anna’s Blue Sunday Tea Party for M.E event and since I had so much fun last year hosting a the first Animal Crossing Blue Sunday Event, I decided to bring it back this year.

Due to circumstances out of my control, I was only able to host one Animal Crossing tea party on the day. I had two planned but the second has had to be postponed to this coming Sunday.

If you’re unsure what Blue Sunday actually is, let me explain…

Back in 2013, my friend Anna came up with the idea as something that people with M.E could do to help raise funds for M.E charities and research into the disease. Most fundraisers are usually along the lines of running marathons or something else too active for someone with M.E to be involved with. But drinking a beverage of your choice, eating a snack of your choice and donating a little something to a charity, now that is something many with M.E are able to do. Anna and her family named the day Blue Sunday and each year the event has grown, with more people hearing about it and joining in.

When the event was started, it only supported one U.K M.E charity but this year Blue Sunday became truly international and supported 12 different M.E charities, including one in Australia, one in South Africa and one in America! It was amazing to see so many people joining in on social media from around the world and the donation amount this year has been utterly mind blowing! At the time of writing, Anna has raised a total of £17,285.49 and you can still donate until the end of the month! If you would like to find out more about Blue Sunday and also donate, all the information you need is here.

Personally, my Blue Sunday was lovely, though the lead up to it was certainly interesting. I’d already decided I wasn’t really well enough for a big family get together via Zoom and it was a good job I did as I ended up having my Covid vaccine on the 12th of May, and my body wasn’t happy about it. This was why I decided to cancel/postpone one of my ACNH Tea Party’s because two in one day would really have been too much as I was still not feeling great on Sunday. So I had a little tea party with my parents and just one of my brother’s and his wife via Zoom and then I held my ACNH Blue Sunday Tea Party, which was so much fun!

This party was for my friends in the M.E Community that also play the game and it’s such a lovely way for a few of us to be together during this day. I’d decorated a little area of my island of Hessa the weekend before and planned out a little “Teacup Treasure Hunt” for my guests to take part in. Everyone looked fabulous in their blue outfits and they all got a blue balloon to run around with too. We had tea and cake, ran round my island and danced! I also took a lot of pictures, some of which are all below for you to see.

This was my 8th Blue Sunday Tea Party for M.E and it’s been wonderful to see it grow each year and watch the M.E Community come together and help each other feel less alone for the day. For me personally, it also feels lovely to be a part of a fundraising event that I’m actually able to do, rather than watching from the sidelines as others do things to raise money for my disease instead. I’m so proud and thankful to Anna and her family for starting this event!

Also, being able to bring Blue Sunday to Animal Crossing New Horizons from last year just adds another level to this event for me and it might not seem like a big thing but I’m so proud of what I’ve been able to achieve. So I’ve decided that I’ll be making ACNH Blue Sunday an annual event!

I really hope everyone who took part in Blue Sunday, had a lovely day and I hope that the PEM wasn’t too bad.

Stay Safe.
