Blind Date With a Book | TBR Challenge
Hello Readers,
I love the concept of a “blind date with a book”. I see them often to buy when browsing Etsy but I’m always hesitant as even within the genre’s I love to read, I’m still quite picky about what I like.
So instead of setting specific reading goals for 2023, I’ve decided to do my own version of a “blind date with a book”. I’ve purchased 12 books from my BookShop.org wishlist that I’ve been wanting to read and I decided to ask a family member to wrap and label them ~ one for each month of the year.
Then at the beginning of each month I’ll unwrap the book for that month and read it. Since I won’t be wrapping them, I won’t know which book is which until it’s unwrapped. The only input I’ve had regards to choosing the books for each month is asking for either a shorter or longer book for some of the months just to balance out my Book Club reading commitments for certain months.
Putting together a monthly TBR can become very routine when you read so much and as a mood reader, I can often struggle to pick books I want to read each month. So I thought adding this little element of mystery and surprise to that process might be fun and it means I’ll begin each month with at least two books on my TBR to get me started ~ my Book Club’s Buddy Read and a Blind Date Book. Then I can add anything else, or if I have an ARC I need to read for tour, I can add that too.
I’ve already opened my Blind Date Book for January and if you want to see what it is, you can head over to my Bookstagram and watch the Reel. I’ll be making a Reel for each book I unwrap, so if you want to follow my little TBR challenge, then be sure to give the account a follow so you don’t miss out ~ my Bookstagram is probably the best place to keep up with everything I’m reading and doing, so if you want to know what else I’m reading before I share my monthly wrap up here, then then definitely hit the follow button over there.
Have you ever had a “blind date with a book”? I’d love to know what you thought of the book if you have.
Stay Safe. Read a Book.
