Autumn Favourites

Hello friends,

Golden yellow and red leaves, warm jumpers and cosy blankets, if you’ve been reading my blog for a while then you know how much I love Autumn! And since this week it’s officially Autumn, I thought I’d share a few of my favourite things that have been helping me feel cosy and autumnal even before Summer ended ~ sorry Summer, you just aren’t the one!

{I did write a similar article last year, which you can read here and I admit there may be some repeats in this one but my Autumn loves and staples rarely change and that’s what I love about them.}

So here are some of the things that have helped me get into the Autumn mood:

Autumn in Video Games:

When the 1st of September arrives in Animal Crossing, it’s officially Autumn in the game. The vibrate greens of Summer begin to fade and over the next couple of months the grass and trees will cycle from pale green, to hues of yellow, red and brown. Acorns and Pine Cones fall from the trees, Mushrooms make an appearance and towards the end of the season, Maple leaves will begin to fall.

I love decorating my New Horizons Islands seasonally and as soon as September started, I began to craft all the different Autumnal items I could and now my islands are full of Mushrooms, Pumpkins and I have swapped out my Native fruit trees for Apple trees. There still not quite finished are I need to collect some more autumn crafting materials but once they’re done, I’ll be updating my Dream Addresses. If you’d like to see my islands and my Dream Addresses, be sure to follow my Instagram gaming account: @cosygamer_lo

I’ve also just finished playing through Autumn on both my Stardew Valley saves {Switch and iPad} and has definitely helped add to the cosy autumnal vibes I need right now! Although my farms need a a lot of work {I decided to clear them both and re-decorate}, the season as a whole in SDV is just so lovely and in some ways, I love it more than ACNH. If you’ve never played this game, I highly recommend giving it a try.

Warm Drinks:

While I definitely don’t need an excuse to drink tea or hot chocolate at any time of the year, once those colder, rainy days become more frequent again {Despite popular belief, we do get warm days in Spring and Summer here in the UK ~ thanks Global Warming!} I find I consume far more hot chocolate than any one probably should.

I have a couple of favourites and since treating myself to a Hotel chocolate “The Velvetiser” making hot chocolate takes up far less energy than it use to. Their Mint Hot Chocolate is just so lovely and it’s Vegan and gluten free, which is an added bonus as it’s one of the few hot chocolates that I’ve found that I can have. The other hot chocolate I really enjoy, is Twinings Swiss Hot Chocolate, again it’s Gluten and Milk free {though there is a “may contain milk” warning due to is being made around other milk containing products} which means it’s “Louise friendly”. This Hot chocolate is incredibly similar to the hot Chocolate you can buy from Costa Coffee, it’s just so lovely and rich tasting.

When I’m not reaching for the Hot Chocolate, my go-to warm drink at the moment is Twinings Lady Grey. It’s not really a typical autumn flavour, but I find it’s such a lovely and refreshing tasting tea. It’s full of Citrus flavours that make it just the nicest little pick me up for my mid-morning cuppa. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something a little different, plus to celebrate the launch of their new website, Twinings is having a site wide sale and you can get up to 50% off some of their products.

Autumn Decorations

I’ve decided this year to actually decorate my bedroom and my office for Autumn and I regret nothing at all! I may even decorate for all the seasons from now on.

So I decided the best place to find all the autumn decor I wanted would be Etsy as that way I could support a few small business and I also set the search to U.K only shops so I was shopping local as well. Then I basically searched things like “Autumn home decor” / “Autumn decorations” and found a few items that I absolutely loved and now they’re all helping to my room and office feel even more autumnal.

I found some lovely little pumpkins, mushrooms, autumn leaves garlands to add to my bookshelves and I also treated myself to the most adorable Fox tea cup set. Here’s the list of the shops I bought from, along with the products, in case anyone is interested:

I’ll be posting plenty of pictures of all these items over on my Instagram, @louiseslittlelife so be sure to follow me on there if you want to see them.

Cosy Jumpers and Blankets

As the weather here is starting to slowly get colder, there’s nothing better than putting on your favourite big, cosy jumper or wrapping yourself up in your favourite blanket. These things definitely help me feel more autumnal and I’ve actually put one of my cosy blankets around the back of my office chair. So I can wrap myself up and be all cosy while I’m writing, studying or on a zoom meeting.

So those are just a few things that help me embrace the Autumn season, even more than I do already.

If you love Autumn as well, I’d love to know what you’re favourite things are about it. So leave me a comment below and lets gush about it!

Stay Safe. Be Cosy.
