Artificial Wisdom by Thomas Weaver | Paperback Book Tour
{Thank you to Literally PR for gifting me a copy of Artificial Wisdom and a place on the tour in exchange for an honest review. This article contains an affiliate link}
Hello Readers,
Last October I had the privilege of reading and reviewing Artificial Wisdom by Thomas Weaver for Literally PR’s Book Tour. I loved it so much that not only was it one of my top reads of 2023 and it has become one of my favourite books of all time!
Now that the paperback edition has been published this month, Literally PR are holding another Book Tour and I have the absolute honour of opening the tour. All the details for the tour are at the end of this article, so if you’d like to follow along and find out what others thought of the book, you can do so.
So before I get into my thoughts, let me share the blurb from the back of the book with you all:
“In 2050. The Earth’s climate is out of control.
a heatwave has killed millions across the Persian Gulf, including the wife of journalist Marcus Tully. But he has a lead on a story like no other: that the heatwave was unnaturally diverted by geo-engineering from hitting the USA.
The president who have the order is now running for an even greater office: dictor, a single global leader, with a short-term mandate to make the hard decisions the nations can’t in order to prevent a climate apocalyse.
His final opponent is the world’s first Artificially Intelligent politician, Solomon, governor of New Carthage, a floating domed city-state protecting the elite. Solomon’s creator may have the evidence Tully needs to make his case to the world, but in the middle of the most important election in history, someone will do anything to stop the truth coming out.”
Since I did join the first book tour for Artificial Wisdom, I have a full review already available for you to read and because of that, I’m not going to write another in depth review this time round. So if you’d like to read a more thorough review, you can find it linked here:
Artificial Wisdom by Thomas Weave | Book Tour Review
However, I did decide that in order to do the paperback tour justice, I would reread the book to see if I still felt the same way about it. This time I listened to the audiobook only, narrated by the amazing Steven Pacey, and it did not disappoint! Even though I knew all the twists and turns of the plot and what was coming, I felt just a gripped and intrigued as I did the first time. I also felt I picked up on one or two little details that I had missed the first time round.
Rereading it felt like checking in on friends I haven’t seen for a little while; listening as they tell me their stories, wanting to hug Tully every time he mentioned his late wife, supporting Livia through all her troubles, telling Haymaker I completely understand his views on the tech of the day, asking Randall how something works and letting him just talk about it for what would seem like an age and of course wanting a different outcome for Juan Bolivar!
As you can probably tell, I thoroughly enjoyed my time back in the world Thomas Weaver has created and all my original thoughts from my initial review are still very valid after my second read through. This is one book that will stay with me for sometime and one I will happily recommend to anyone looking for something a little bit different to read as it’s a wonderful mix of Technothriller and Science Fiction without being overly complicated with “technobabble”.
Thank you so very much to the team at Literally PR for not only gifting me the paperback edition of the book to go with my hardback version, but for giving me the opportunity to join and open this book tour and tell people about one of my favourite books.
Thank you Thomas Weaver for creating this interesting world with a great cast of characters. I’m eagerly awaiting your next book!
Stay Safe. Read a Book.
